The Malawi Longitudinal Study of Families and Health (MLSFH) is a longitudinal study of the rural population in Malawi that provides an exceptional record of the social, economic and health conditions in one of the world’s poorest nations. The talk will present several recent findings on the mental and physical health of the mature adult (age 45+) population in Malawi, the relationships between physical and mental health and economic productivity, and the effects of the expansion of access to antiretroviral treatment on the health and productivity of individuals in Malawi.
